Shed, Deck and Garage Demolition in Central Maine

Light demo for sheds, decks, garages and interior tear outs. We take the structure down, load the debris and leave the ground clear.

The detail

Demolition the way it should go

Light demolition is the part of the job most haulers will not touch and most demolition firms are too big to bother with. A shed that has finally given up, a deck that is rotten underfoot, a garage that is leaning, an interior that has to be stripped back to studs before the remodel starts. We take it down by hand and machine, pull the nails and the fasteners out of the ground, and load every piece of it straight onto our own trailer. That last part is the reason to call us rather than a demo crew and a hauler separately. The people who knock it down are the people who haul it away, so there is no week of splintered plywood sitting in your yard waiting for somebody else to schedule a pickup. We work around what stays, we protect the lawn and the driveway on the way in and out, and we rake the site before we leave so you can actually use the ground again.

  • Mobile home and camper teardown and removal
  • Every piece of the debris loaded and hauled on the same visit

How it goes

How a demolition job runs

  1. A collapsed plywood shed and scattered debris at the start of a Brute Waste teardown

    We look at it first

Light demolition is not priced from a photo. We come and look at what is holding it up and what is around it.

  2. A Brute Waste crew member working through a shed teardown on a wooded lot

    Utilities and neighbors

We check for power, water and anything running under the slab, and agree the access route before a tool comes out.

  3. Demolition debris loaded into a Brute Waste dumpster beside a cleared work area

    Down and loaded

It comes apart in a controlled order and goes straight onto the trailer rather than into a pile on your lawn.

  4. The demolition site raked down to bare ground with the debris removed

    Site raked clear

Fasteners pulled, ground raked, debris gone. You get usable ground back, not a footprint of splinters.

Demolition questions

What counts as light demolition?

Structures that come apart without an excavator swinging a ball. Sheds, decks, garages, porches, mobile homes and interior tear outs are all normal for us. A full house or anything structural next to another building is a job for a heavy demolition contractor and we will say so.

Do you haul the debris away too?

Yes, and it is the main reason to use one crew. The structure comes down and goes onto our trailer in the same visit, so nothing sits in your yard.

Do I need a permit?

It depends on the structure and your town. Small sheds usually do not. A garage, anything on a foundation, or anything with utilities running to it often does. We will tell you what we think you need and you confirm with the town office.

Can you tear out a kitchen or bathroom before my remodel?

Yes. Interior strip outs back to studs are regular work for us, and getting the debris out of the house the same day is usually what the contractor actually wants.

What about asbestos or anything hazardous?

We do not touch it and neither should anyone without the license for it. Older buildings in Maine can have asbestos in siding, floor tile and pipe wrap. If we suspect it, work stops and you get a licensed abatement contractor in first.
